Accessible Yoga Teacher Training

Program Description

Accessible Teacher Training (ATT) is a 400-hour Integral Yoga teacher training certification program specifically designed for training people with disabilities.
It is the only program in the U.S. that meets national standards and focuses on being available to people who have paralysis, a disability, chronic illness, or physical limitation.

Basic Training

The training is divided in two sections; phase one is Basic Training, which offers a foundation in basic Yoga principles and teaching methodology. The curriculum is very similar to the content of the Integral Yoga Basic Teacher Training program, giving teachers all the knowledge they need to teach beginners-level Yoga. The main difference in this program is the extra effort made to make the material easy to learn and integrate. We also offer extra support for students as they experience the transformational process of a teacher training program.

Yoga for Healing

The second phase of the program, offered in alternate years, is Yoga for Healing Teacher Training. This program focuses on how to make the Yoga teachings available to anyone who is interested in using Yoga in their personal healing. Participants, who have already taken a basic Yoga teacher training, are introduced to the many ways that Yoga practice can be modified to suit students with disabilities or physical challenges. This can range from teaching slightly modified classes, to entire classes taught in a chair or in a bed. A large part of the program is dedicated to the study and teaching of Yoga philosophy, which includes how to prepare and present a public talk. These skills help teachers gain a clear understanding of the Yoga teachings so that they can teach with confidence and skill.

Yoga Dana Foundation

Accessible Yoga Teacher Training is sponsored by a grant from the Yoga Dana Foundation, which allows us to provide financial scholarships.
